“KL Art Studio is to be highly commended for the beautiful palls it creates. Chalice palls are too often forgotten (and sometimes even omitted!) in the Sacred Liturgy. The exquisite embroidery of sacred images enhances the dignity of the Mass — and reminds the priest celebrant of Christ’s active loving presence in the great Sacrament of the altar.“

        About the artist

Kathryn Laffrey studied Art Education at Michigan State University and is currently working on her Master's of Sacred Arts through Pontifex University.

She creates liturgical art and hand-embroidered illuminated chalice palls influenced by late Romanesque/early Gothic psalters and Byzantine embroidery.

She also enjoys creating wildlife paintings in watercolor, driftwood sculptures, and instructing workshops in a wide variety of media for people of all ages.  She especially enjoys sharing her Polish heritage teaching pisanki workshops.

In addition to creating art, she enjoys discussing sacred art's influence on modern culture. You can listen to her commentary on the Star Quest Production Network Secrets of Star Wars and adventure along with her and Alix Murray on the Secrets of Sacred Art - StarQuest Media (sqpn.com)  podcasts.

Kathryn and her husband live in Michigan.
